Before knowing the right stream lets get into the option we have, so basically we have 4 major option which are medical, non-medical, commerce and arts (humanities). rather then this we have more option like we can get into polytechnic which has different courses like mechanical, fitter, electric, computer, etc. or we even have small courses (6 months or more), like digital marketing, trading etc

Choosing the right course after 10th is an important decision as it decide your future which is in your hands, and even after 12th is crucial for the future, students often explore different streams as per their personal interests and strength Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce, and Arts. Each stream offers diverse courses and career opportunities.

Medical stream

Medical stream is for those who are passionate about healthcare and medicine. Popular options include MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPT, B.Sc Nursing, and various paramedical fields like Medical Lab Technology and Optometry. to get a great success in streams like Medical their is an exam called as NEET-UG, this exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Government of India (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate) NEET-UG. NEET-UG is the only national-level exam conducted by the government itself for admission to medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS), and Veterinary courses in both government and private medical colleges across India.

Every year, around 20 to 25 lakh (2 to 2.5 million) students apply for the NEET-UG exam, making it one of the largest competitive exams in the world.

as same as Medical stream, Non-Medical stream also have some exams which is conducted by the Government name as JEE (Joint Entrance Examination), which is sub divided in 2 exams name as JEE Main & JEE Advanced, JEE Main is the First level exam for most engineering colleges. and JEE Advanced is secondary level exam for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Almost around 12-14 lakh students appear for JEE Main annually.

Second exam is BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test) conducted by BITS Pilani, for admission in BITS located in Pilani, Goa and Hydrabad for B.Tech and other integrated courses. almost around 2 lakh students applies for this exam per year

Third exam is VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination) which is conducted by Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT). For the purpose of admission in VIT campuses located in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, Amaravati. Almost around 2 lakh students applies for this exam per year

Forth exam is State-Level Engineering Entrance Exams conducted by the State government or Universities for admission to state engineering colleges.
Examples include:

  • AP EAMCET / TS EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana)
  • MHT-CET (Maharashtra)
  • WBJEE (West Bengal)
  • KCET (Karnataka)

COMMERCE STREAM

Student who chooses commerce as a stream they can pursue B.Com, BBA, CA, CS, CFA, and specialized courses in finance, accounting, marketing, and economics. These options lead to careers in banking, finance, business management, and entrepreneurship. Just like Non-Medical Commerce also have several exams or career option like CA (Chatered Accountant), CS (Company Secretary), CMA (Cost and Management Accountant).   1. Chatered Accountant (CA) is most popular exam in India for Commerce students as it is high paying also one of the difficult exam, which is conducted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), for the purpose to become Chartered Accountant, a highly respected finance and accounting professional. Around 1.2 to 1.5 lakh students register every year for the CA Foundation level (the first stage).

it has 3 stages :-

  • CA Foundation (after Class 12)
  • CA Intermediate (after passing Foundation)
  • CA Final (after clearing Intermediate)

after passing CA Intermediate students must complete 3 years of internship under a qualified Chartered Accountant. This practical training gives hands-on experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, and finance. On average, it takes about 4.5 to 5 year to complete the CA course (if cleared in the first attempt). However, since the exams are very challenging, many students take longer — around 5-7 years in total.

Company Secretary (CS) is the second most popular exam after CA, which is conducted by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), with the purpose of To become a Company Secretary, an expert in corporate laws, compliance, and legal affairs. Around 70,000-90,000 students register annually, Usually 3–5 years to complete all levels and required training.

3. Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) is third most popular exam after CS which is conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI). To become a Cost and Management Accountant, specializing in budgeting, cost control, and business strategy, Almost around 50,000 – 70,000 students register each year. And duration of this course is around 3-4 years, including training.

Arts Stream

Arts or Humanities include courses in literature, history, sociology, psychology, political science, and mass communication.   1. CUET (Common University Entrance Test) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) For admission to undergraduate courses (B.A., B.A. Hons., BBA, ETC) in central, state, and private universities across India — including Delhi University (DU), BHU, JNU, etc. Applicants over Over 13-14 lakh students. Most of the degrees are of 3 years
  2. CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) conducted by Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) for Admission to 5 year integrated law courses (B.A. LL.B, BBA LL.B) in National Law Universities (NLUs) and other law colleges. Around 60,000–70,000 students and its duration is around 5 years.
  3. NIFT, NID and UCEED (Design Entrance Exams) it is conducted by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), National Institute of Design (NID), and IIT Bombay (for Design courses) (UCEED). For admission to Fashion Design, Interior Design, Product Design and Communication Design courses. And its duration around 4 years.
  4. UPSC/State Civil Services (after graduation) it is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) or State PSCs. To become an IAS, IPS, IFS, or other civil service officer. Student must complete any graduation and become an office in 1-2 year after graduation depends upon preparation.
